European election activitySubmitted by Graham on Sat May 16, 2009 EULAR (the european league against rheumatism) is a federation of national arthritis (rheumatism) groups from across Europe. They asked us if we could help them to implement a campaigning strategy during the European elections currently underway. The objective is to convince candidates running for election from all 27 countries to commit support for specific policies that will improve the lives of people with arthritis. To get things started we are sending out broadcast emails from the national organisations of EULAR to the candidates in their countries (we think candidates will respond better if the official ask comes from the national organisation rather than EULAR). Backing up the direct emails is a grassroots campaign. Individual supporters of the national organisations are writing to their local candidates with a link to the sign-up form in the email. Listed below are links to the candidate sign-up forms hosted on e-activist 3.0 in a selection of countries. You can click a few of the links to see how the campaign is being implemented. EULAR is hoping that candidates that sign up to their election commitments will actually work toward the implementation of the policies if they get elected. It's fun for us to see e-activist 3.0 in use in the 15 different languages used in the campaign. We'll try and post the campaign outcomes after the elections are over in June. Stay tuned |
